Not knowing where to turn, and with Kakistos wanting revenge, Faith made her way to Sunnydale, where she knew she could find the other Vampire Slayer, Buffy Anne Summers. Once there Faith got a motel room and took up hunting vampires by hanging out at the Bronze and letting vampires ask her out, thinking they would make a meal of her. While she was being attacked by one outside the Bronze Buffy and friends tried to save her, but soon realized she didn't need any help. She introduced herself and immediately befriended Buffy's friends Alexander Harris, Willow Rosenberg and Daniel "Oz" Osborne, but Buffy and Cordelia Chase seemed to be a bit jealous of the attention she was getting. Faith and Buffy met up with watcher Rupert Giles and were assigned to patrol together in Sunset Ridge. Buffy also invited Faith to dinner. When out on patrol they were
attacked by vampires claiming to work for
Kakistos.
Faith seemed to snap and attacked one vampire repeatedly with her fists, but not killing it, while Buffy was left to face the others by herself. They eventually faced Kakistos and defeated him together (Faith, Hope and Trick 3.03).
After Buffy's boyfriend Scott Hope dumped her before the Homecoming dance, Buffy decided to attend with Faith. Faith took great pleasure in ruining Scott's evening when she saw him there with another woman. The vampire Mister Trick then set up Slayerfest '98, where several different hunters would compete to capture Buffy and Faith during the homecoming dance. Trick's people mistook Cordelia for Faith and Faith spent the time at the homecoming dance as Buffy and Cordelia fought for their lives (Homecoming 3.05).
Faith's supposed new watcher, Gwendolyn Post, arrived in Sunnydale, and sent Faith on a mission to stop the demon Lagos from obtaining the glove of Myhnegon. Gwendolyn ended up betraying Faith and her friends, setting them against each other In an attempt to gain the power of the glove for herself. Buffy and Faith were able to defeat her (Revelations 3.07).
Having no place to go for Christmas, Faith accepted an invitation to stay with Buffy and Joyce for the holidays (Amends 3.10).
After Xander saved Faith from an attack by one of the Sisterhood of Jhe, she thanked him by having sex with him in her motel room (The Zeppo 3.13).
A new watcher named Wesley Wyndam-Pryce arrived in Sunnydale to take over for Rupert in watching Faith and Buffy. Wesley had the Slayers try to retrieve an amulet of the demon Balthazar, the supposedly dead founder of a vampire swordsman cult, the Eliminati. Buffy and Faith recovered the amulet from a crypt and Buffy gave it to Angel for safe keeping. The real trouble for Faith started when she and Buffy were planning an assault on the lair of the demon. While fighting his vampire guardians, Faith accidentally killed the Deputy mayor of Sunnydale, who happened to be walking by during the fight. She tried to hide the death, and got Buffy to help her. Balthazar captured Wesley and Rupert to try to get the amulet back, but Buffy, Faith and Angel rescued them and slayed the demon and his minions (Bad Girls 3.14).
After she couldn't hide it any more she tried to blame the death on Buffy. After a conflict with the Council of Watchers over the incident, Faith pretended to agree to their demands, but secretly went to mayor Wilkins and started to work for him. She informed the mayor of the gang's plans and helped cover for him (Consequences 3.15).
For a while she played both sides of the fence until she was discovered trying to remove Angel's soul and get him to work for the mayor too. She went to work for the mayor full time (Enemies 3.17).
Faith was sent to kill Professor Lester Worth by the mayor because Lester had discovered the remains of a supposed dinosaur on a recent dig, and this dinosaur was actually the same type of demon the mayor planned to becoming during his ascension. To keep Buffy distracted Faith shot Angel with a poison arrow, for which the cure turned out to be the blood of a Slayer. Buffy intended to feed Faith to Angel, but Faith escaped wounded (Graduation Day Part 1 3.21).
Faith ended up in a coma from her fight with Buffy and the blood loss. The doctors didn't expect her to ever recover. In Buffy's dreams she was visited by a vision of Faith, who helped her defeat the mayor (Graduation Day Part 2 3.22).
About two weeks after the destruction of Sunnydale High School the ghost of mayor Wilkins returned to get his revenge on Buffy. Buffy kept having bad dreams of Faith attacking her. Wilkins possessed the body of a bird, who noticed military troops moving into the U.C. Sunnydale campus. Once Wilkins found Buffy in the cemetery the ghost possessed the body of a newborn vampire and attacked her (Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Haunted #1).
Rupert and Xander were nearby and helped Buffy stake the possessed vampire, but Rupert was injured in the fight and was taken to Sunnydale General Hospital. The mayor then possessed a dead bird and followed Buffy. Willow, Xander and Oz went to look for a dead body which disappeared from the hospital and was found in the cemetery. As Buffy slept the next night she had another nightmare of Faith attacking her (Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Haunted #2).
The mayor then possessed another newborn vampire. The Wilkins-vampire fed off a passer by, then attacked Willow, who escaped by casting a spell that turned herself into mist, but not before the mayor mentioned how he should should have bitten the librarian. The mayor then went to find Buffy, but was taken by the soldiers of the Initiative, including one named Adam (Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Haunted #3).
Willow then realized that something was possessing vampires, but didn't know what. Buffy had another nightmare of Faith. Professor Maggie Walsh ordered that the vampire be dissected. The mayor escaped the Initiative by leaving his vampire body and possessing a large dead demon called Hostile Six and injuring Adam. Buffy went to Faith's apartment to confront her nightmares only to find Hostile Six waiting for her. Willow and Xander arrived and Willow cast a spell casting out the spirit inhabiting Hostile Six, but they never learned it was Wilkins. In the Initiative, Walsh vowed that Adam would survive (Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Haunted #4).
Faith eventually woke up from her coma, and proceeded to cause havoc in Sunnydale. She learned the mayor had been killed and their plans stopped by Buffy. A demon delivered a package to her containing a magical device the mayor wanted her to have and a message. The message said that if he died there would be no place in the world for Faith any more, but this device would take care of that. Faith took Buffy's mother Joyce hostage and when Buffy came to rescue her Faith used the device to switch bodies with Buffy. Faith then knocked out Buffy, inside Faith's body, and turned her in to the police (This Year's Girl 4.15).
Although Buffy, trapped in Faith's body, was captured by police and later by the Council of Watchers, she managed to escape and regain her own body, but not before Faith had started to take over Buffy's life. Faith had even had sex with Buffy's boyfriend Riley Finn. Faith left Sunnydale (Who Are You 4.16).
Faith arrived weeks later in Los Angeles where she was approached by Wolfram & Hart about killing a vampire who had become trouble for them. As it turned out that vampire was Buffy's old boyfriend Angel. Faith also learned Angel's employees were her old watcher Wesley and Buffy's high school friend, Cordelia. She captured and tortured them and forced Angel into a fight, but in the end it was discovered that Faith had a death wish and wanted Angel to finish her off. Angel didn't kill her and decided to try to help her (Five by Five 1.18).
After Angel took Faith into his care he attempted to rehabilitate her. They were assaulted from all sides by Faith's enemies, including the Council of Watchers, the police, Wolfram & Hart and even Buffy, who wanted revenge. In the end Faith turned herself in to the police and confessed to her crimes (The Sanctuary 1.19).
Faith was sentenced to prison and although she had some incidents with guards and other inmates, she is determined to keep from killing again and serve her time, with Angel occasionally visiting her (Judgement 2.01).
Angel and Cordelia then went to work under cover as drug dealers to uncover a supplier of the drug called soul drops in Los Angeles. They traced the drugs back to a demon named Steglar, and learned he got his supplies from Sunnydale. Cordelia then had a vision of Buffy in trouble. Angel decided he needed help rescuing Buffy, so he got Judge Marget Brown, who owed him a favor, to release Faith into his custody for 24 hours. The two then drove to Sunnydale (Buffy The Vampire Slayer #47).
When Faith and Angel arrived in Sunnydale they were able to track the demonic invasion in the town to the old Initiative caves beneath Lowell House. There they were confronted by the Scourge. The two managed to save Xander, Dawn Summers and Anya Jenkins from being sacrificed to make soul drops, but then the whole group was captured (Buffy The Vampire Slayer #49).
Angel, Faith, Xander, Dawn and Anya found themselves confronting the Scourge's new leader, Adam, who had become a living holographic computer program. Buffy and Pike were able to break into Adam's headquarters. Buffy shut down the vat making the soul drops and then the others were able to defeat the Scourge. Once Buffy learned Adam was using the gladiatorial fights to power the Initiative and his computers she was able to talk the demons in the ring in into not fighting each other and Adam lost power. Buffy and her friends then returned to Buffy's house where Xander took care filling in the Initiative caves. Angel told Buffy and Dawn he had a teenage son now. After Angel and Faith left Pike told the others the story of when he and Buffy went to Las Vegas (Buffy The Vampire Slayer #50).
