Synopsis

The Short: With Angel trapped on the ocean floor and Cordelia stuck on a mystical plane, Fred and Gunn are frustrated at the lack of clues regarding their friends' whereabouts, especially after the only eyewitness to Angel's disappearance is murdered. After Angel is rescued by Wesley, the shocking reasons behind the mysterious disappearances become clear.

1. Gunn: ''Well, how's he gonna feel if all vampirella saw is sand and seaweed?''
   Vampirella is a female vampire comic book hero published by Harris Publications. Vampirella was made into a direct to video film in 1996 starring Talisa Soto as the title character. The official Vampirella web site is at http://www.vampirella.com/.
   
   
2. Gunn: ''Are you sure about that? Offspring of two vampires. Last time I checked that's not supposed to happen, and jumping off a six story without busting your coconut kind of sways me to the side of not just a boy. I mean, come on, Fred. His nickname back in Quortoth was the destroyer, and unless you put Conan in front of that, I'm guessing it's not a good sign.''
   Conan the Destroyer is a 1984 fantasy epic starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as the title character, a muscle bound hero for hire.

When Wesley feeds his own blood to Angel the subtitles show that the Lorne figment continues singing, but no words can be heard.

Linwood's comment about this being his ''corner of the sky'' was probably an inside joke. John Rubinstein, who played Linwood, was the original Pippin on Broadway, where he sang the song Corner of the Sky.

New names for Gunn: The Alpha Male (by Fred), the big dog (by himself).

New name for Connor: Sparky (by Gunn).

Personally I thought the season opener was slow and had way too many dream sequences. It really doesn't make sense that Wesley hasn't communicated with Fred and Gunn, and where is Groo, wouldn't he care that Cordelia disappeared? What was up with Justine being so submissive to Wesley? What did he do to her?
