''Cordelia's mind is under attack. Angel will stop at nothing to discover the source.''

Synopsis

The Short: Cordelia gets a number of visions which leave her physically harmed and send Angel on quests for a magical coin and key. When the crew ask the host of Caritas to help learn why Cordelia's visions are now injuring her, he discovers that these visions are not coming from the Powers That Be, but from a psychic hacker. Angel learns Lilah Morgan of Wolfram & Hart arranged for the false visions, and she blackmails Angel to use the coin and key to rescue a man Wolfram & Hart want back from a hell dimension. Angel brings the man back, and exchanges the man for Cordelia's restoration. Angel kills the psychic and then tells Lilah if she ever tries to get to him through Cordelia again he will kill Lilah.

1. Cordelia: ''Oh. Hi. I'm sorry I didn't hear you sneak up on us. Must be those tastefully expensive Gucci Loafers. Totally our fault.''
   Gucci is a high end Italian brand of clothing and accessories. It was created by Guccio Gucci (1881-1953), the son of a Florentine leather craftsman. As a young man, he went to Paris and then London, where he gained an appreciation of cosmopolitan culture, sophistication, and aesthetics. He returned to Italy in 1920 and opened the first Gucci shop in Florence. Guccio began with finely crafted accessories for horseback riders. As the firm grew, Guccio's sons Aldo, Vasco and Rodolfo opened new shops in Florence, Rome, and Milan. In 1953, against their father's strong advice, Aldo and Rodolfo opened the first overseas boutique in New York City. A new pair of Gucci loafers can retail for over $300! 2. Cordelia: ''There is a coin and, uhm, two clawed things, it's in China town I think. An herbalist's shop.''

3. Gunn: ''Since when can't a brother buy some ginseng tea?''
   Ginseng is the common name for the Araliaceae, a family of tropical herbs, shrubs, and trees that are often prickly and sometimes grow as climbing forms. The true ginseng (Panax ginseng), long prized by the Chinese for its medicinal qualities, was in such demand that a North American ginseng, P. quinquefolius, was imported in large quantities as a substitute. Both species have been all but exterminated in the wild by commercial exploitation. The herbal medicine ginseng is prepared from the plants' dried roots; it is used as a mild sedative and to increase stamina.
   
   
4. Fred: ''Has, has anyone ever told you you're exactly like Lassie? Yeah. You're like Angel's Lassie. Sure, he does most of the saving but it's your visions that tell him that Timmy is trapped in the well, or the robbers are hiding in the barn. He really needs and depends on you.''
   Cordelia: ''Well, thanks. I'd be flattered except for the Lassie being a dog part. Dennis, a little help here?''
   Lassie is a 1954 television series which starred a collie of the same name. It also starred Jon Provost as Lassie's owner Timmy. The plot of Lassie often included Lassie finding out about some danger and getting to Timmy to get help.
   
   
5. Host demon: ''Way outside of my area of expertise, I should caution, but hey? Who knew William Shatner could sing? Okay, bad example.''
   William Shatner is a Canadian born actor who is best known for his television and film roll as Captain James T. Kirk from the 1966 series Star Trek and it's sequels. 6. Cordelia: ''Was it there? Because I'm gonna be really ticked off if I'm all Phantom of the Opera and there wasn't a key.''
   The Phantom of the Opera is a story based on the 1910 french novel Le Fantôme de l'Opera by Gaston Leroux. It has been made into a number of plays and films. Plot: A masked man haunts a Paris opera where he frightens off the leading lady so that a lesser actress who he loves from afar can take her part.
   
   
7. Cordelia: ''It's not like I'm morally against letting a demon into my subconscious for a quick lookee-loo. Hey, might be fun, but with the Powers That Be doing this whole 'book of Job' thing, the last thing I want is more noise in my head.''
   The Book of Job is a book of the Bible. The book is of unknown authorship and date, although many scholars assign it to a time between 600 B.C. and 400 B.C. A lament in narrative form, the subject is the problem of good and evil in the world: ''Why do the just suffer and the wicked flourish?'' In the prose prologue Satan obtains God's permission to test the unsuspecting Job, whom God regards as ''a perfect and an upright man''; accordingly, all that Job has is destroyed, and he is physically afflicted.
   
   
8. Angel: ''That's not why I need you. You're important, and the visions are just after market extras like a Hurst shifter or Craiger wheels.''
   Known as ''America's Number 1 Shifter'' Hurst maintains a wide variety of quality products for the performance enthusiast. Over the years, Hurst has been the OEM supplier for the Pontiac GTO, Plymouth Barracuda, Plymouth SuperBird, Ford Mustang Boss 302, Oldsmobile and AMC just to name a few.
   
   Craiger is an after market wheel manufacturer that was popular with hotrodders in the 1950, 1960's and 1970's. (Thanks to Bob Ignash for helping with this.)
   
   
9. Host demon: ''You're Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music, and you're relaxed and you're spinning and the camera is swirling and, ouch! Careful, honey, you've got some power of your own!''
   Julie Andrews is an actress born in England in 1935 as Julie Elizabeth Wells. She debuted on Broadway at the age of 19.
   The Sound of Music is 1965 musical film. Plot: Baron Von Trapp, a widower, runs his home near Salzburg like the ship he once commanded. That changes when Maria arrives from the convent to be the new governess of his seven children. Their romps through the hills inspire all to sing and to find joy in the smallest things, like raindrops on window panes. With a renewed zest for life, the baron hosts a party to introduce his new fiance. Maria knows then she does not want to be a nun. She marries the baron. 12. Man in fez: ''You're the boss. John Hancock and, done!''
    John Hancock (1737-1793) was a political leader in the American Revolution and a signer of the Declaration of Independence. His signature is the first and largest listed on the Declaration, and the name John Hancock has come to mean signature.
    
    
13. Cordelia: ''Angel, what you did for me was unbelievably selfless, and brave, and amazing, and it's so great to know that the next vision I have will just be blindingly painful and not turn me into Elephant Man or anything.''
    The Elephant Man was the show name of John Merrick, who lived in the late 1800s in England. He was discovered in 1884 by Frederick Treves, a famous and accomplished physician during his time, while being exhibited by the last of a string of back-room showmen. John Merrick died in 1890. His massive skull was too heavy to be easily supported, and during his sleep his head fell backward, dislocating his neck.

    The Republic of Honduras, Central America is the second largest of the Central American countries. Honduras is bounded on the north by the Caribbean Sea, on the east and south by Nicaragua, on the southwest by El Salvador and the Pacific Ocean, and on the west by Guatemala.

   Over The Rainbow - Gavin Park introduces himself to a bored Angel. Cordelia is made a slave in Pylea. Constable Narwek arrests Fred.
   Through The Looking Glass - Angel saves Fred.
   Heartthrob - Cordelia has a vision. She says the visions are killing her. A pregnant Darla is looking for a shaman.
   Reprise - Angel and Darla have sex. Angel wakes up.
   Epiphany - Angel kicks Darla out and tells her if he ever sees her again he will kill her.
   
   
2. Gavin: ''Look, just because they gave you Lindsey's old office doesn't mean...''
   Lilah: ''I have this office because I earned it. As did Lindsey. He sacrificed his flesh and blood for this company, literally had his hand cut off, fighting against Angel. What are you doing? Building code violations.''
   To Shanshu In L.A. - Lindsey lost his hand fighting Angel.
   Redefinition - Lindsey and Lilah were made joint acting co-vice presidents of special projects at Wolfram & Hart.

Gavin Park is the 40th reoccurring non-star character on the show. He was last seen in Over The Rainbow.

There are some problems with the closed captioning. First it has Angel referring to ''Krager wheels'', but the after market wheel manufacturer is called Craiger. In the scene where Angel talks to Skip, Skip says ''My will prevents him from being heard. I mean there is only so many 'oh my god! The pain! Please make it stop!' that you can listen to before it starts to bug the crap out of you.'', but the captioning says ''My will prevents him from being hurt.'' which makes less sense considering what he said in his next line.

New name for Angel: His Royal Badness (by the host demon).

They could do more to be cryptic, but NOT MUCH. Fred seems to like forking with Gunn, but I think she's more a Wes-woman. I liked Skip, I hope we see him again. I guess Angel is a daddy.
