The Long: After a ''Previously on Angel'' segment (see Continuity #1) Angel, Wesley and the host realize Cordelia has been sucked into the portal. In another dimension Cordelia is walking through a field and yells for help, then realizes it was probably a bad idea to draw attention to herself. She looks around, then tries clicking her heels together three times, which doesn't do anything (see Reference #1-#2). A demonic hell beast jumps out of the woods and starts to growl at Cordelia. Although she tries to play it cool the beast charges her. She runs.
Seekul, the hell beast that chases Cordelia, appears very similar to the hell hounds that were seen in The Prom. These creatures are employed as hunting dogs by the demons of Pylea.
Another animal we see is called a frehangna, which is a cow-like farm animal with large horns.
The dimension of Pylea is inhabited by humans, who are a slave race, as well at least three separate races of demons. The first is a species with green scaly skin, red eyes and two small horns in their head. The second appears to have bumpy pink skin and red eyes, males are hairless. The third has red skin and black eyes. The host implies his race is unable to get drunk.
One new thing about vampires that we learn is that they seem to only be burned by sunlight from Earth's star, Sol. Angel has no trouble walking around in the sunlight on this world.
Angel also displays in this episode that vampires have superior hearing to humans.
Aggie, a new character, seems to be a legitimate human psychic. She can see people's auras, read their futures, and sense psychic hot spots. No reason is given as to why she has those powers. She could have been born with them like Drusilla the seer or had them as of the result of childhood trauma like Bethany the telekinetic.
Of course the really interesting new monsters are the latest pair of lawyers from Wolfram & Hart, Gavin Park and Mr. Hayes.
Cordelia: ''Silver lining.''
This is a reference to the saying ''Every cloud has a silver lining.'' which means every bad event must have some good that comes of it too.
Cordelia: ''You're like Hindu right? You don't eat the cows?''
Hinduism is the Western term for the religious beliefs and practices of the vast majority of the people of India. One of the oldest living religions in the world, Hinduism is unique among the world religions in that it had no single founder but grew over a period of 4,000 years in syncretism with the religious and cultural movements of the Indian subcontinent. Hinduism is composed of innumerable sects and has no well-defined ecclesiastical organization. Its two most general features are the caste system and acceptance of the Veda as the most sacred scriptures.
Host demon: ''Gift horse. Mouth.''
The host is referencing the saying ''Never look a gift horse in the mouth.'' which basically means don't question something good that happens to you.
Host demon: ''All my life I thought I was crazy. That I had ghosts in my head or something. Simply because I could hear music. Of course I didn't know it was music. All I knew was that it was something beautiful and, and painful, and right, and I was the only one who could hear it. Then I wound up here and heard Aretha for the first time... ''
The host is probably referencing soul singer Aretha Franklin.
Host demon: ''Hey, I'd rather have a hydrochloric acid facial. I'd rather invite a hive of wasps to nest in my throat. I'd rather sit through a junior high school production of Cats! You see where I'm going with this?''
Cats is a musical play by Andrew Lloyd Webber. It has a web site at http://www.reallyuseful.com/cats/. The host mentioned his distaste for Andrew Lloyd Webber in Reprise.
Cordelia: ''I wanna go home. I wanna be in my bed. I wanna order some Thai food and read the latest issue of Marie Claire. I wanna be doing anything but shoveling demon horse poop!''
Marie Claire is a women's fashion magazine that has a web site at http://www.marieclaire.com/.
Host demon: ''It makes a certain kind of sense, no? Anyway, this is where Aggie said it was, and Aggie is never wrong when it comes to hot spots. She was doing Skybar way before Brad and Jennifer.''
Skybar is a bar at the Mondrian Hotel in West Hollywood. It has a web site at http://www.mondrianhotel.com/.
Brad and Jennifer are probably actors Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston.

Gunn: ''Got a phone message. Sounded like the captain of the Titanic getting ready to go down with the ship.''
The Titanic was a British liner that sank on the night of April 14-15, 1912, after crashing into an iceberg in the North Atlantic, South of Newfoundland. More than 1,500 lives were lost. The Titanic, thought to be the fastest ship afloat and almost unsinkable, was on her maiden voyage and carried many notables among the more than 2,200 persons aboard. Cordelia mentioned the 1997 film Titanic in I Will Remember You and Buffy mentioned the ship in Living Conditions.
Gunn: ''Yo, that was phat.''
Phat is American slang for ''pretty hot and tempting.''
Host demon: ''Back up Copernicus, that's suns!''
Nicholas Copernicus (1473-1543) was a Polish astronomer. After studying astronomy at the University of Kraków, he spent a number of years in Italy studying various subjects, including medicine and canon law. He lectured c.1500 in Rome on mathematics and astronomy; in 1512 he settled in Frauenburg, East Prussia, where he had been nominated canon of the cathedral. There he performed his canonical duties and also practiced medicine, but the work that immortalized him is De revolutionibus orbium coelestium, in which he set forth his beliefs concerning the universe, known as the Copernican system. That treatise, which was dedicated to Pope Paul III, was probably completed by 1530 but was not published until 1543, when Copernicus was on his deathbed. Modern astronomy was built upon the foundation of the Copernican system.
Gunn: ''I don't get it, why are they afraid of Xena?''
Xena is the title character of the adventure television series Xena: Warrior Princess, played by Lucy Lawless. It should be noted that a number of supporting actors from Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel have also worked on Xena: Warrior Princess, and that in one episode of Xena: Warrior Princess they even made mention light of Buffy, when a play mentioned in the episode The Play's The Thing 4.17 was called ''Buffus the Bachi Slayer''. In Xena's world the Bachi are blood drinking women who turn into wolves and serve the god Bachus. Xena was also referenced by Willow in Halloween.
Wesley: ''I was always horrified by those stories about the Tower of London.''
The Tower of London is an ancient fortress in London, England, just east of the city and on the north bank of the Thames, covering about 13 acres. Now used mainly as a museum, it was a royal residence in the Middle Ages. Later it was a jail for illustrious prisoners. The Tower is enclosed by a dry moat, within which are double castellated walls surrounding the central White Tower. It has a web site at http://www.londontower.org/.
Host demon: ''Locked me in a room, pushed me around, asked a bunch of questions. Your standard film noir.''
Film noir is a type of crime film featuring cynical malevolent characters in a sleazy setting and an ominous atmosphere that is conveyed by shadowy photography and forboding background music. Also mentioned by Cordelia in Judgement.

Gunn: ''Previously on Angel.'' Belonging - Landokmar of the Deathwok Clan comes through a portal. Angel fights him and the host recognizes him as his cousin. A producer tells Cordelia to show more cleavage. Cordelia says she just wanted to act. Gunn finds out a friend was killed by vampires. Cordelia, Angel and Wesley look for Fred in the library. They find a book that opened the portal. They send Landokmar back, but they lose Cordelia too. Cordelia wakes up in another dimension.
Wesley: ''I was always horrified by those stories about the tower of London.'' Angel: ''Wasn't that bad.'' Angel #2 - Angel was imprisoned in the Tower of London in 1856 after killing a girl, but managed to escape.
Daniel Dae Kim, who played Gavin Park, played the part of the Gotana-Retz in the Star Trek: Voyager episode Blink of An Eye 6.12. You might also recognize him as John Matheson on Crusade or as Yenlo in the Charmed episode Enter The Demon 4.04. He has a fan web site at http://www.danieldaekim.org/. According to that site the character was originally called Gavin Mitchell.
