I Will Remember You - 1ADH08
The Short: When Angel tells Cordelia and Doyle that he did not contact Buffy during his visit to Sunnydale, Buffy pays a visit and expresses her displeasure. The two have a tense reunion which is interrupted by a demonic assassin intent on killing them. The demon escapes, and Buffy and Angel decide to pursue it separately. It finds Angel and in the struggle Angel kills the demon but has some of it's blood fall into an open wound on his hand. The blood heals him and he suddenly is breathing and has a heartbeat, he's alive! Angel goes back to Doyle and Cordelia where he needs to know if this is real and permanent. Doyle agrees to visit the Oracles, who are channels for the Powers That Be. They confirm that Angel is now human and no longer a warrior for the forces of light, he is free to live his life as a human. After explaining his condition to Buffy they share a passionate night of romance. Cordelia and Doyle go out to celebrate at a bar, but Doyle has a vision of the demon
returning from the dead, even stronger then before. Angel insists on fighting the demon alone, but is almost killed before Buffy saves him. Angel confronts the Oracles again and they inform him that Buffy would perish if he were to remain human, because he cannot protect her. Although he begs to be made a vampire again out of his love for her, the Oracles cannot do that. One Oracle is so touched by his love that she offers to turn back time 24 hours so he can avoid being turned human, only he and the Oracles will remember this day. He agrees and goes to see Buffy, tells her what he agreed to and kisses her good-bye. As the clock ticks to the exact time of the morning he fought the demon he suddenly finds himself in the office with an upset Buffy again. They are attacked by the demon, but this time he uses his knowledge of it's weaknesses to dispatch it quickly. Buffy leaves him having no knowledge of what they had together.
The Mohra demon is an assassin with regenerative powers. It requires salt to
survive, and can only be killed by shattering the crystal on it's head. It
has green skin and features that resemble a samurai mask. It dresses in garb
similar to a samurai and carries swords and other weapons. It has glowing
green blood.
We have the first appearance of the Oracles, a male
and female with other worldly powers. They supposedly speak for the Power
That Be, the same beings who give Doyle his visions and choose Angel to
fight on the side of good. They seem precognitive, telekinetic and can alter
the flow of time, but prefer to be cryptic, as they subtly direct others
with their advice. They demand a tribute when people ask them for advice,
usually a small item of value.
In this episode they show again that vampires have an enhanced sense of
smell when Angel tracks the demon by following the smell of it's blood. We
also learn that at least sometime a vampire can be turned human again. It's
uncertain if any vampire can be turned human by Mohra demon blood or if it
had something to do with Angel's curse and the fact he had a soul.
